Materials and Finishes

COMPONENTS OF BECLAWAT PRODUCTS

This section covers the material specification of common components found in Beclawat aluminum framed windows.

A. Aluminum

  1. Extruded aluminum profiles used for primary and sub-frame assemblies, which include hinged panels, retaining rings and any profile with radius corners after forming. Alloy - 6063 T4
  2. Extruded aluminum profiles used exclusively for mullion dividers, pull handles, pinch locks and fabricated in non-formed (radius) applications. Alloy - 6063 T5
  3. Aluminum bar, angle and tubing from standard mill stock. 6063 T5 and/or 6061 T6


B. Finishes

  1. Clear etch anodizing to .0004 min. etch as per AA M32, C22, A31 unless otherwise specified.
  2. Powder coat polyester or polyurethane painted finishes.


C. Glass

  1. Solid clear tempered safety glass in thickness of 5mm to 6mm - AS-2 designation as per ANSI Z26.1
  2. Solid clear tempered safety glass in thickness of 8mm through to 19mm - AS-2 designation with option to add ISO 3254 in accordance with ISO 614 test methods.
  3. Solid tinted tempered safety glass in thickness from 5mm to 12mm - AS-3 designation.
  4. Electrically heated glass consists of 2 or more layers of solid tempered safety glass combined with any of the above glass, sandwiching PVB and heating element. Heating element can be either resistive wire or oxide film. Options are available to add ISO 3434 for heated glass.
Note that all above solid tempered glass is considered under ASTM C1048 for heat-treated glass.


D. Fasteners

  1. Retaining ring screws, hex bolts, washers, helicoils and any fastener required to secure 2 or more components together use either 18/8 or 410 stainless steel unless otherwise specified.


D. Rubber

  1. Commonly used to retain and/or seal glass into aluminum profile is manufactured from a weather resistant synthetic rubber.


E. Sealant and Glazing Tape

  1. Depending on the style and window application, sealing compounds may range from silicone to polyurethane. Butyl tapes are commonly used for most fixed glazing applications.
  2. Synthetic rubber, flock coated rubber material and water repelling felt are also used in some sliding window applications. UV resistant sealant is also used where necessary.
